A 20-day educational programme in bird-watching, implemented through the Pannonia-Adria Connection (PA.CON) Project, has been finalized with the certificate handing ceremony, held in Tuzla on July 13-14, 2022. In the period December 2021 – July 2022, eleven workshops were organized for 20 participants of the educational course (students of the University of Tuzla Departments for Biology, Tourism and Geography). It included site visits to the major birds’ habitats in B&H such as Hutovo blato, Livanjsko polje, Plivska jezera, Neum, Bijambare, Vrelo Bosne, Tajan, Haljinići, Modrac and Tišine. Through the lecturing, but mostly through the practical work, participants were able to learn major techniques in bird watching (using the equipment such as the binocular and camera, recognizing the birds by using the available tools). Participants were also introduced with the bird-ringing techniques as one of the important techniques for birds’ registration and protection. During the workshops, practical examples of the small entrepreneurs who included the bird-watching into their tourism offer, were shared and discussed with the participants of the educational course. Educational programme was organized and delivered by the ornithology experts from B&H and the region who shared their knowledge and experiences in bird-watching as one of the potential factors for tourism development.
